About this map

The Tracy Arm Fords Terror Wilderness dominates this coastal Alaska landscape, where glacial ice and saltwater inlets meet within the Tongass National Forest. Large ice masses, including the Dawes Glacier in the northeast and the Baird Glacier to the southeast, define the drainage patterns and shoreline of the Endicott Arm. This 1996 revision, based on mid-century topography and late-1990s imagery, captures the administrative complexity of the region by marking the boundary between the Juneau Ranger District and Petersburg Ranger District. Between the high peaks like Maury Peak and the Buddington Range, freshwater bodies such as Glory Lake and Farragut Lake sit in deep valleys carved by the receding ice of previous centuries.
