The city of Tallulah serves as the focal point of this mid-1960s survey, situated at the junction of the Illinois Central and Missouri Pacific railroads. The landscape is defined by the heavy engineering of the Mississippi River, featuring the Marshall Cutoff (1934), Revetment works, and numerous landings such as Ashly Ldg and Millikens Bend Ldg. The Delta terrain is a complex network of oxbow lakes and bayous, including Lake Sixteen, Horseshoe Lake, and Willow Lake, many of which represent former channels of the river.
