1961 Map of Tamina

USGS Topo · Published 1962

About this map

The Missouri Pacific railroad corridor anchors the settlement of Tamina, a community defined in the early 1960s by its central Tamina Ch and Tamina Cem. This southern Montgomery County landscape is a mix of dense timber and active resource extraction, with the W G Jones State Forest occupying the northwest and the Crystal Field oil operations dotting the northeast. The winding West Fork San Jacinto River and its complex system of oxbows and sloughs, such as Bird Lake and Barefoot Lake, dominate the eastern half of the survey area.
