Bering Land Bridge National Preserve encompasses much of this coastal region, where the tundra landscape transitions into the saltwater environments of the Chukchi Sea. The map documents a complex system of interconnected coastal waters, notably the expansive Arctic Lagoon and Ikpek Lagoon, which are separated from the open sea by narrow barrier features. These lagoons form a vital transition zone for the Seward Peninsula, influenced by the seasonal flow of the Kugrupaga River and the smaller Upkuarak Creek.
