1994 Map of The Jetties

USGS Topo · Published 1994

About this map

Galveston Island and the southern tip of the Bolivar Peninsula frame the vital maritime passage shown in this 1994 provisional survey. The map focuses on the complex navigation infrastructure at the entrance to the harbor, dominated by the massive North Jetty and South Jetty that extend miles into the Gulf of Mexico. These structures define the Galveston Bay Entrance Channel and protect the deep-water anchorage of Bolivar Roads.
