The settlement of Tobique and its surrounding wetlands occupy a landscape defined by an intricate network of waterways within the Chippewa National Forest. The geography is dominated by a high density of glacial lakes, including Mabel Lake, Portage Lake, and the connected Twin Lakes. The Boy River and Swift River serve as the primary drainages, carving through the dense forest and marshland that cover much of the terrain.
