About this map

The North Fork Shenandoah River carves a dramatic series of oxbows known as the Seven Bends as it flows through this mid-1960s Shenandoah Valley landscape. Hemmed in by Little North Mountain to the west and Three Top Mountain to the east, the valley floor is a patchwork of small settlements and family farms. The Southern railroad and the burgeoning interstate highway system, marked here by Interchange 73, run parallel through the heart of the valley, connecting Fishers Hill, Toms Brook, and Maurertown.
