Whitefish Cr and its many tributaries carve a dense network through this part of Donley County, defining a landscape dominated by hydrologic erosion and rural road grids. The namesake Troublesome Cr flows through the southern portion of the quadrangle, joined by smaller seasonal runs like Three Tree Cr and Edgel Cr. This is a terrain of high relief where the drainage patterns of McCormick Creek and Packs Cr create a complex topography of ridges and draws.
