Tyler Mountain rises above a high-altitude landscape defined by its intricate drainage networks and ranching heritage. The terrain is dominated by the watershed of Red Dirt Creek, which flows into the Red Dirt Reservoir, a significant water feature managed by the McMahon Dam. To the northeast, a cluster of high-country impoundments including Rudolph Reservoir, Oaks Reservoir, and Woods Reservoir indicates the importance of water management for the surrounding plateaus.
