The Yentna River dominates the western portion of this Alaskan landscape, weaving its broad, braided channels through the Matanuska-Susitna region. The complex hydrography of the river valley is further defined by its tributaries, including the northern Kahitna River and the winding course of Moose Creek. To the east, the terrain transitions into a dense network of wetlands and smaller water bodies, anchored by the significant presence of Lockwood Lake.
