Underwood sits at the confluence of rugged Adirondack topography and critical waterways, documented here in the early 2020s. The landscape is defined by the headwaters of the Schroon River and the split drainages of the North Fork Boquet River and South Fork Boquet River. This area within the Adirondack Park remains largely undeveloped, characterized by a high density of small water bodies like Rhododendron Pond, Shingletree Pond, and Lillypad Pond.
