The unincorporated community of Vestaburg serves as a focal point in this mid-1960s survey of central Michigan. The landscape is defined by the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad corridor, which links several small clusters of settlement and institutional life, including the Cedar Lake Academy and Cedar Lake Sch near the shores of Cedar Lake. This area of Montcalm and Isabella counties is characterized by its numerous small water bodies, such as Rock Lake, Marl Lake, and Bass Lake, set against a backdrop of organized agricultural plots and the large Edmore State Game Area.
