Wahsatch sits at the high-elevation gateway of Echo Canyon, a critical corridor through the northern mountains on the border of Utah and Wyoming. This 2017 survey by the U.S. Geological Survey illustrates the complex topography of the The Needles and the various draws and hollows that define the regional watershed, including Sulphur Hollow and Burton Hollow near the edge of Evanston. The landscape is a network of ranching infrastructure and hydrological features, where drainage from Slaughterhouse Cr and Shearing Corral Cr eventually feeds into Yellow Cr. Long-established transportation routes like the Wasatch Rd and Yellow Creek Rd follow these natural contours, serving the high-country basins and the Barker Reservoir area. The map also records the intersection of multiple county and state lines, marking the meeting point of Rich and Summit Counties in Utah and Summit and Uinta Counties at the Wyoming state line.
