Wamic and the surrounding agricultural landscape of Wasco County are defined by a complex network of water management features and high-desert terrain. The town serves as a hub for the local area, which includes the recreational waters of Pine Hollow Reservoir and the community of Pine Hollow. To the south, the deep canyon of the White River cuts through the landscape, protected within the Lower White River Wilderness. The importance of irrigation to this region is evident in the presence of the Threemile Ditch, Rock Creek Ditch, and the Wapinitia Canal.
