Thunder Basin National Grassland dominates this portion of Weston County, where a complex network of seasonal drainage systems defines the landscape. The geography is carved by the W Fork Buffalo Cr and Buffalo Cr, which flow through the northern reaches, while the southern terrain is marked by the branching headwaters of Hay Cr, including the W Fork Hay Cr and E Fork Hay Cr. This 2015 survey illustrates a sparsely populated region primarily utilized for conservation and grazing, with very little human infrastructure beyond the primary transit route of Raven Creek Rd. Topographic variations like Schoeber Draw provide natural landmarks in a territory characterized by its vast open rangeland and the distinctive boundaries of Township 45 and 46 North.
