The White Tank Mts. rise sharply from the desert floor in this mid-century survey of western Maricopa County. This map document includes 1971 revisions that highlight the infrastructure of the era, such as the Microwave Radio Tower and the cluster of Microwave Radio Towers VABM 4018 marking the higher summits. These installations, along with various Beacons and the VABM Light 3671, signal the range's importance for communication and navigation in the valley.

Evidence of small-scale exploration appears on the western slopes, where a Prospect and several Prospects suggest mineral interest. Much of the high ground is dedicated to the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, accessible via a rugged network of Jeep Trails that traverse the canyons and ridgelines. The transition from 1950s field data to 1970s aerial updates shows a landscape increasingly used for recreation and regional utility as the Phoenix metro area began its outward expansion.
