The Fayette State Experiment Forest occupies much of this landscape in the late 1960s, a period when rural life in this part of Alabama remained anchored by small country churches and family burial grounds. The water network is particularly dense, defined by the winding course of the Sipsey River in the southeast and the long run of Luxapallila Creek through the western sections.
