Benchmark Rd serves as the primary corridor into this remote portion of the Lewis & Clark National Forest, where the high-altitude landscape is defined by the intersections of the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Scapegoat Wilderness. At the northern edge, the Benchmark Airport provides a rare point of access near Glade Creek. The topography is dominated by significant peaks and ridges, including the prominent Crown Mtn and Cyanide Mtn, while water features like Wood Lake and the high Alpine Lake drain through a network of creeks such as North Fork Ford Creek and Crown Creek.
