Nine Forks sits at a crossroads in the heart of this Webster Parish landscape, where the rural character of northern Louisiana is defined by a high concentration of family and community burial grounds. Numerous small cemeteries, including Burns Cem, Fuller Cem, and Gilgal Cem, are scattered across the terrain, serving as primary touchstones for local genealogical research. The land is drained by a network of waterways led by Black Lake Bayou and its tributaries, such as Brushy Cr and Bear Cr, which dictate the placement of local roads and smaller settlements like Ada and Dubberly. Modern infrastructure is visible through the corridor of Interstate 20, which cuts through these older timberlands and creek bottoms. This 2012 survey preserves the exact location of these traditional family landmarks and the meandering paths of rural lanes like Old Arcadia Rd.
