Chugach National Forest encompasses the entirety of this coastal Alaskan landscape, where the ice-dominated terrain meets the waters of Prince William Sound. The sheet is characterized by massive glacial formations including Muth Glacier and Williams Glacier in the north and the Lafayette Glacier in the southwest, each carving deep paths through the high elevation peaks. The topography is dominated by steep coastal ranges, rising toward the prominent Unakwik Peak overlooking the shoreline. To the southeast, the land gives way to Jonah Bay and the northern reaches of Unakwik Inlet, providing a clear look at the intricate coastline and maritime interface of this roadless wilderness in the early 21st century.
