Ivanhoe sits at the western edge of this Lincoln County landscape, positioned along the high ground of the Coteau des Prairies. This plateau region is defined by its complex drainage patterns, where the Yellow Medicine River and its S Br Yellow Medicine River wind through a glaciated terrain dotted with numerous water bodies. To the north, Drietz Lake and Hawks Nest Lake break the grid of section lines and gravel roads, while Lake Stay dominates the southern portion of the quadrangle near the settlement of Arco.
