Assawoman Bay and the Atlantic coastline form a complex landscape of tidal inlets and growing resort communities in the late 1960s. This survey, updated with 1972 revisions, documents the residential expansion of Swann Keys, Keen-Wik, and Edgewater Acres along the various guts and creeks feeding into the bay. The boundary between Delaware and Maryland cuts directly through the barrier island at Fenwick Island, where the established town grid meets the undeveloped stretches of Fenwick Island State Park.

To the west, the Assawoman Wildlife Area preserves a network of marshes and family-named landings such as Sassafras Landing and Miller Landing. Cultural landmarks like the Sound Ch and various small cemeteries are scattered among the interior necks, while the southern portion of the map shows the burgeoning development of Ocean City and the route of the Ocean City Expressway crossing toward the Isle of Wight.
