About this map

Volcanic cones and high tundra peaks define the central Seward Peninsula as it appeared in the mid-twentieth century. The landscape is dominated by the massive Imuruk Lake and a series of geologically distinct features such as Dryas Cone, Andromeda Cone, and Lost Jim Cone. Evidence of early territorial industry is visible through the tractor trails and scattered gold mines that supported small outposts like Taylor, Aurora, and Dahl.
