Big Thunder Peak and the Sugar Hills anchor this northern Minnesota landscape, dominated by complex water systems and managed wetlands. The central portion of the quadrangle is defined by the winding course of Morrison Brook, which drains toward the southern reaches of the map. Significant water management features are evident near the southern boundary, including the Little Hill River Wildlife Impoundment and the associated Little Hill Wildlife Impoundment Dam. Further east, the William Lange Structure Dam appears as a more recent addition to the local hydrological infrastructure.
