1970 Map of Border

USGS Topo · Published 1973

About this map

The Idaho-Wyoming state line bisects this high-elevation landscape where the Bear River and Thomas Fork meet amidst a complex network of irrigation works. At the time of this 1970 field check, the small settlement of Border and nearby Border Junction served as critical transit points for those crossing the state boundary. The Union Pacific Railroad cuts through the river valley, following the natural corridor carved between the Preuss Range to the west and the Sublette Range to the east.
