The Boxelder community sits at the northeastern edge of a landscape defined by the lowlands of the Sulphur River and its intricate network of tributaries. This rural Texas landscape is characterized by its extensive wetland systems, where the meandering river forms the boundary between Red River and Titus counties. Inland from the river bottoms, the terrain rises toward distinct high points such as Stockbridge Knoll and Pigpen Knoll, while numerous watercourses like Whiteoak Cr, Cuthand Cr, and the Big Slough carve through the plains. The presence of the Circle WC Ranch Airport and the Evergreen Cem north of town reflects the area's agricultural and ranching foundations. Transport through the bottomlands is facilitated by FM 412 and several county roads, providing access to secluded water bodies like Ogilvie Lake and managed water features such as Blackmon Farms Reservoir Number 6.
