About this map

Falls Creek Falls State Park dominates the northern high plateau of this map, where the terrain breaks sharply at the Cumberland Escarpment. This 1946 survey, later updated with mid-1960s revisions, illustrates the dramatic geographic transition from the high ridges of the Cumberland Plateau down into the Sequatchie Valley. Along the valley floor, the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and the Alvin C York Highway parallel the Sequatchie River, serving small settlements like Lees Station and College Station.
