About this map

Center Fork Asphalt Wash and Bitter Creek drain a complex landscape of high plateaus and deep cuts in this recent survey of eastern Uintah County. The terrain is characterized by a series of prominent northwest-to-southeast features, most notably McCook Ridge and Anderson Ridge, which provide natural corridors above the steep walls of Burnt Timber Canyon and Zane Canyon. This network of high-elevation ridges suggests a history of overland transit in a region where travel is dictated by the dramatic vertical relief. Local landmarks such as Smith Point and the curiously named Dynamite Point overlook the junction of Upper Bitter Creek and Road Canyon, while Atchee Ridge Rd and East Seep Canyon Rd follow the natural contours of the land, providing access to the more remote corners of the quadrangle.
