C J Strike Reservoir dominates this high-desert landscape south of the Snake River at the junction of Elmore and Owyhee counties. The massive impoundment, held by the C J Strike Dam, transforms the confluence of the Snake River and Bruneau River into a sprawling recreation and irrigation hub. Irrigation infrastructure is central to the area's development, evidenced by the Shoofly Canal and S Side Canal which feed the agricultural lands of Bruneau Valley and Little Valley.
