Miller Cabin and the surrounding valley floor are central to this mid-1960s survey of the Wyoming high country. The eastern edge of Jackson is visible near the National Elk Refuge, where the Refuge Hdqrs and Millers Springs sit at the base of rising slopes. The topography is dominated by the Gros Ventre Range, with Nowlin Peak and Jackson Peak defining the skyline above a network of drainages including Cache Creek and South Twin Creek.

Resource extraction and backcountry navigation are evident through the presence of the Jackson Mine, Noker Mine, and several unnamed mine prospects. To the south, the Snake River winds past the junction of Game Creek and Squaw Creek, while the Teton National Forest covers much of the interior. A series of designated pack trails trace the ridges and canyons, providing a record of established routes through the mountain passes before modern development.
