The Capitan Mountains dominate the northern landscape of this Lincoln County survey, giving way to the southern drainage of the Rio Bonito. This terrain is characterized by a series of deep canyons named for local families and geologic interests, including Thorium Canyon, Uranium Canyon, and Koprian Canyon. Within the Lincoln National Forest, a network of pack trails and jeep trails provides access to remote high-altitude features like Summit Spring and Padilla Point.

The valley floor near the southern boundary shows evidence of local infrastructure and resource extraction, notably a small Cem and the Double Crossing point. Several Prospects and a Gravel Pit indicate historical mining activity in the northern slopes, while the presence of a Landing Strip and a dedicated Picnic Area suggests the area's importance for both remote transit and recreation in the early 1980s.
