Eagle Cap Wilderness and the Minam Wild and Scenic River corridor define this high-elevation landscape on the border of Wallowa and Union counties. The terrain is a complex network of ridges and drainages, where the Little Minam River and North Fork Catherine Creek have carved deep basins. Named landmarks like Deadhorse Flat and Catherine Creek Meadow suggest the area's history as grazing ground within the Wallowa National Forest.
