1970 Map of Chokecherry Mtn.

USGS Topo · Published 1973

About this map

The Delamar Mountains and Chokecherry Mountain dominate this 1970s topographical record of eastern Nevada. The landscape is defined by an intricate network of springs and canyons, essential water sources in this high-desert environment. Notable features include Balm of Gilead Spring and Applewhite Spring, which feed into the rugged drainages of Balm of Gilead Canyon and Applewhite Canyon. Near the southern edge, the Taylor Mine and Taylor Mine Spring indicate historic mineral exploration in the region. Transportation is anchored by Route 93, which crosses Oak Springs Summit 6243, accompanied by a Rest Area and Picnic Area. The presence of numerous Borrow Pits near the summit suggests local materials were extracted for the development of this vital desert thoroughfare. Away from the highway, the terrain is accessible only by a system of Pack Trails and Jeep Trails.
