Corsicana and its rural southwestern outskirts are defined by a complex network of agricultural watersheds and small family settlements. This landscape in Navarro County features numerous water management sites, including the Soil Conservation Service Site 140 Reservoir and several others that dot the landscape near Drane and Corbet. The area preserves significant genealogical landmarks, ranging from the large Resthaven Memorial Park to smaller, localized burial grounds like Cunningham Cem, Marshall Cem, and the Campbell Elrod Cem west of Rush Creek. Terrain features like the Black Hills rise above the drainage of Briar Creek, while the presence of the Anxiety Aerodrome south of the city indicates the diversifying use of land at the edge of the urban center. The survey captures the transition from the dense street grids of western Corsicana to the scattered farmsteads and creek-bottom lands of Oak Valley.
