Prideaux Oil Field and the surrounding rangeland of Young County define this landscape at the start of the twenty-first century. The terrain is marked by prominent elevations such as Gap Mountain and Spy Knob, which overlook a network of seasonal waterways including Darnell Branch, Brushy Creek, and Dead Horse Creek. These drainages eventually feed into the West Fork Trinity River, which meanders through the southern portion of the quadrangle.
