About this map

The Yellowstone Co Big Horn Co line divides this landscape of the Crow Indian Reservation, as documented in this mid-century survey. The terrain is defined by a dense network of watercourses, including Pryor Creek and its many tributaries such as Fourth of July Creek, Plum Creek, and the curiously named Smallpox Creek. The map reveals a land structured by water and elevation, with Deep Creek and Middle Porcupine Creek carving through the center of the sheet. Aside from a lone Cem and a large Pipeline cutting across the northern sections, the map shows very little modern structural development, preserving the topography of this part of Big Horn County as it existed before significant later changes. Benchmark markers like BM 4396 and BM 4676 provide precise elevation data across the high ridges.
