The Aichilik River winds through this coastal plain of the North Slope, revealing a landscape defined by braided waterways and vast wetlands. This 2023 survey documents a remote portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, where the river systems dictate the geography of the tundra. The braided channels of the Kogotpak River and the southern reaches of the Egaksrak River further characterize this drainage basin as it approaches the Beaufort Sea. Protected within the Mollie Beattie Wilderness, the territory remains largely untouched by infrastructure, showing only the natural shifts of the Arctic hydrological cycle. The map provides precise documentation of these shifting watercourses and the Public Land Survey System grid including Townships t5n r38e and t4n r39e, serving as a modern record of one of the most protected environments in Alaska.
