Caribou National Forest lands dominate this high-altitude landscape in the southeastern Idaho mountains. The topography is defined by the prominent northwest-southeast alignment of Schmid Ridge and Dry Ridge, which shelf the long, namesake basin of Dry Valley. These ridges are cut by a network of steep drainages, including Caldwell Canyon and Hornet Canyon, while the valley floor is sustained by localized water sources like Goodheart Spring and Conetree Spring.
