The Englebrecht Ranch serves as the primary landmark in this survey of the San Joaquin Valley’s western edge in Fresno County. Surveyed by E.T. Walker under the direction of State Engineer W. F. McClure, the landscape is defined by a sparse network of roads and section lines typical of early 20th-century California ranching country. The terrain slopes gently toward the east, crisscrossed by irrigation ditches and unimproved roads that connected these early agricultural outposts. While largely undeveloped, the map preserves the exact boundaries of Township 15 and 16 South, providing a clear view of land division during a period when large ranch holdings dominated the regional economy.
