Fairview anchors the southern portion of this landscape, situated at the crossroads of several regional routes along the border of Fulton and Knox counties. The terrain is deeply defined by the drainage network of Coal Creek and its tributaries, including North Branch Coal Creek and South Fork Coal Creek. These waterways carve distinct valleys across the agricultural uplands, creating a series of wooded ridges and hollows such as Cole Hollow.
