The Yellowstone River cuts a wide path across this prairie landscape, defining the boundary between Dawson and Prairie counties in eastern Montana. Near the town of Fallon, the legendary Lewis and Clark Trail follows the northern riverbank, tracing a historical corridor that remained vital into the mid-20th century. The settlement of Fallon serves as a small rail hub where the Northern Pacific railroad tracks parallel the water, while the southern portion of the map is traversed by the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific line near O'Fallon Creek.

Away from the river valley, the geography shifts to the broad, elevated terrain of Fallon Flat. This area is marked by localized industry and community landmarks, including numerous Gravel Pits and the Community Cem near Schilling.
