About this map

Lake Maumelle dominates the northern reaches of this landscape, its shoreline defining the topography where Worthen Creek and Nowlin Creek drain toward the basin. The settlement at Ferndale serves as a local hub south of Brush Mountain, near a series of institutional grounds including Ferncliff Camp and the Arkansas Baptist Camp. Transport history is visible through the Old Railroad Grade and Hog Grade winding through the southern ridges. To the east, the landscape transitions from the heights of Shinall Mountain, marked by radio towers, toward the Little Maumelle River. Local genealogy is well-preserved through numerous small burying grounds like Browns Valley of Rest Cem and Guenther Cem, alongside rural social centers such as Union Chapel and the Joe T Robinson Sch.
