The Ferris Mountains dominate the northern landscape of this Carbon County region, where steep ridgelines give way to the deep cut of Miners Canyon. This high-altitude terrain is defined by its drainage network, with Sand Cr, Turkey Cr, and Garden Cr flowing from the mountain slopes toward the lower basins. The southern portion of the area levels out toward Table Mtn, featuring a complex system of ephemeral wetlands and small water bodies such as Rinshaw Lake.
