1967 Map of Flat Rock

About this map

The Huron River meanders through this landscape, acting as a natural boundary between Brownstown and Berlin as it approaches Lake Erie. In the late 1960s, the area was defined by a dense network of drainage canals such as Baker and Green Drain and Bancroft Drain, which served the low-lying coastal plains. This topography is dominated by the transition from the manicured grounds of Willow Metro Park and Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in the north to the industrial and residential growth of Flat Rock and Rockwood.
