About this map

The Cosumnes River and Deer Creek define the hydrologic character of this landscape on the border of El Dorado and Sacramento Counties during the mid-twentieth century. Small-scale mining operations left a visible mark on the terrain, evidenced by numerous Mines, Prospect points, and extensive Tailings south of Walltown. This area shows a transition from active extraction to a more rural residential or agricultural layout, with the Abandoned Ditch and the Carson Creek Sch (Aban'd) indicating shifting settlement patterns as older infrastructure fell out of use.
