Gheen and its nearby neighbor Gheen Corner sit at a significant crossroads in northern St. Louis County, where the transition from agricultural land to dense woodland is starkly mapped. The area is defined by the slow-moving waters of the Willow River and Beaver Cr, which meander through extensive wetlands and the southern fringes of the Superior National Forest. To the north, the Elbow River creates a natural corridor featuring Elbow Rapids near Rice Lake.
