Lake Pend Oreille anchors the southern edge of this Idaho landscape, where the northern shore meets residential developments like The Willows. The terrain rises sharply from the water into the Selkirk Mountains, dominated by high peaks including Bald Mtn and Gisborne Mtn. Much of the northern quadrangle is protected within the Kaniksu National Forest, a region defined by steep drainages and mountain passes such as Happy Fork Gap and Canyon Gap.
