The high Wasatch Plateau dominates this portion of the Manti-La Sal National Forest, where the landscape is defined by a sophisticated network of mountain reservoirs and drainage systems. Headwaters for the North Fork Muddy Creek and South Fork Muddy Creek converge here, supported by several named catchments including Emery Reservoir, Spinners Reservoir, and Brush Reservoir. The terrain rises to prominent summits at Heliotrope Mtn and White Mtn, while unique alpine basins like Horse Heaven and Twelvemile Flat suggest a history of seasonal grazing or high-country exploration. A complex system of forest trails, such as the Ferron Mountain #114 Trl and Big Ridge #025-Inc Trl, connects these remote water sources and peaks across the Sanpete and Sevier county line.
