Hendrickson Coulee and Dickoff Coulee define the deeply incised drainage patterns of this Prairie County landscape. The area is marked by the dividing line between Prairie and Dawson counties, where the high ground of Sheepshead Bluffs rises above the network of seasonal watercourses. These drainages, including Bad Route Cr and Cottonwood Cr, feed into the regional watershed via routes such as Dickoff Cr and Pine Cr. A sparsely populated ranching or agricultural character is evident through the dominance of section lines and gravel access ways like RD 217 and Fallon Tower Rd. The Bad Route Creek Bridge in the northeastern corner provides a specific point of infrastructure in an otherwise open, natural terrain focused on water management and movement through the coulees.
