The Milk River carves a winding path through this portion of Phillips County, defining the local geography with its prominent Big Bend and numerous intersecting drainage features. This 2014 survey captures the landscape as it transitions from the high plains into the drainage basins of Butte Coulee and Martins Coulee. The topography is marked by a series of erosion-carved coulees, including Canty Coulee and Spring Coulee, which dictate the local transportation routes.
